Pure Energy Corporation Appoints Irshad Ahmed as
Vice President and Chief Science Officer

May 9, 1997. Pure Energy Corporation, a bio-based alternative fuel company,
is pleased to announce it has appointed Irshad Ahmed as Vice President and
Chief Science Officer. At Pure Energy, Mr. Ahmed will be responsible for
directing the Company's research and development programs, effective June 1,
1997. Prior to joining Pure Energy, Mr. Ahmed has been Director of Renewable
Energy and Biotechnology for the consulting firm of Booz Allen & Hamilton,
Inc.
Merrick G. Andlinger, President and CEO of Pure Energy, stated: "We are
extremely pleased that a scientist with the reputation and qualifications
in the bio-based field that Irshad Ahmed possesses has joined our team. He
will significantly deepen our on-going programs to bring our fuel to market."
Mr. Ahmed has spent over 11 years researching and developing renewable energy
technologies, alternative energy, and energy conservation systems. His work in
both the public and private sectors has integrated advances in biotechnology and
engineering for the production of biofuels, biochemicals, and biomaterials.
He serves on the boards of a number of biotechnology and renewable energy
organizations. He is the President of the Board of Directors of both the National
Biodiesel Foundation and EarthOne Inc, and is a consultant to the National Research
Council of the National Academy of Sciences.
Mr. Ahmed holds a BS (with Distinction) in Chemical Engineering from Osmania
University in India, and has advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering, and
Agricultural & Biological Engineering from Cornell University and the University
of New Hampshire. In addition, he has received specialized training in Chemical
Plant Operation & Technology Management from the School of Chemical Engineering
Practice and the Sloan School of Business Management at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology.
Incorporated in 1994, Pure Energy now has offices in New York City and
Orange County, California. The Company has the exclusive world-wide
license from Princeton University to commercialize the cleaner-burning
alternative automotive fuel, developed at Princeton. A substantial
portion of the fuel is produced from cellulosic material: agricultural
wastes, purpose grown crops and municipal solid wastes. A patent is pending
on the fuel. Pure Energy is independent and privately owned.
